Can we make a pillow fort, Mom?It's a lazy Saturday, the first truly chilly morning and we're all wearing layers and the steam is rising from my coffee in lazy swirls, highlighted in the sunlight streaming through the windows.
He asks me if he can make a pillow fort, if we can have a lazy, do whatever day, but I know what he's really asking.
Can I be little again, Mom?Yes, you can.
Can I have a day where I don't have to worry? Where everything is fun and easy?
Where I don't have to be 12 and cool and say the right things or wear the right things or be responsible for anything?
Can things be easy, just for a little while?
Can I get away from these feelings and this person inside I don't recognize?
Growing up sucks sometimes. But lazy Saturday pillow forts can be a part of growing up, too.
The song for today is by Firefall.
