It took a mere 2 months to lose it all.
I don't know why I stopped running; too much other stuff to juggle, too many other priorities, too little time, no motivation. I don't know why I stopped, but I did. And today I paid the price for that, as I laced up my shoes once again and hit the pavement.
First I was all...
I'll just run a mile and then walk a littleThen I was all...
Two songs! I can make it through two songs, right? And then...
Holy crap I'm gonna hurlAnd I just gave up.
In total, I "ran" a little over a mile and a half in a little under 25 minutes. Not horrible—at least I got out there—but not what I know I'm capable of, either.
I was listening to music and searching for motivation in the lyrics as I am wont to do. And I found it in the last song that played:
I know it's hard butEven when I let myself down, the music picks me up.
You've gotta deal with it
Why don't you look around
Show me what you're made of...
I know you tried so hard, but you can't even winYou bet your ass I am.
You gotta try a little harder, you're the comeback kid
So when you see me, that old lady, huffing & chuffing down the street with her green headphones and bright blue running shoes, don't worry. I got this.
And here's a quick playlist to get you moving.
