Flyover Blues

Yes, it's old but it allows me to carry
5,000 songs in my pocket!
I love to travel. I get excited when I get to travel by myself, seeing as how I don't get a lot of time away from my responsibilities. The way I look at it, I get all kinds of time to hang out, so I brought my loaded music player, a few notebooks, magazines and tablet with movies and e-books.

So, naturally, instead of reading or writing, I spent all my airport time creating an epic playlist to relax to. I arrived hella early at the airport and shuffled a few songs to get warmed up. I didn't want to carry my laptop but wanted all my music—you never know what you might need to hear—so I pulled my old iPod out and ensured it was locked and loaded. Standing in line waiting to board, I was inspired to start the playlist.

A little pre-ceremony interpretive dancing with
a handkerchief, as one does.
Then I spent the pre-takeoff time loading up the list, tweaking it here and there. It kept my ears happy for the bulk of my trip, except for the detour I took into the Turned Out A Punk podcast, which I love because I realize that I wasn't the only uncool kid who didn't find punk right away.

After listening to this thing all weekend, I still ended up with a Rihanna earworm—Bitch Better Have My Money!—and no idea why. I was gratified when it was played at some post-ceremony, pre-reception wedding bar hopping, a Wisconsin tradition.

Now I'm home and I'm hitting the ground running after a fantastic weekend in Wisconsin with family. But before I dive in, I thought I'd share the playlist (for best results, press shuffle):

  1. Pre-reception bar hopping? How much fun does that sound?! Why don't we do that here?
